The B'Stard is back

...and this time he's New Labour

Rik Mayall’s loathsome MP Alan B’Stard is to make a comeback – but this time as a New Labour MP.

He is to revive the ultra-Right wing Tory as a cynical Blairite for a New Statesman stage show in the New Year.

The 47-year-old comic told the Cheltenham Literature Festival that writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran have finished the script.

He said: ‘It is going to be a live show rather than telly - it takes so long to get something on telly Blair would probably be gone by then anyway.

‘Alan brought down the Thatcher administration. This time he will be New Labour, so look out Tony.’

Mayall, who recently slated the BBC for being too politically correct to accept his latest comedy, was in Cheltenham to promote his recent autobiography.
