Following suit

Baker pens bizarre comedy

Danny Baker is reportedly penning a comedy-drama about the life of a suit for broadcast on Five.

Baker unexpectedly quit presenting BBC London’s breakfast show live on air in May, just hours after he was named DJ of the year.

At the time he said was leaving to write a film script for Five.

Now the Guardian reports that his first project will follow a suit  from its beginnings at a tailor’s through its travels while worn by its owner.

One unnamed source told the paper: ‘I suppose you could say it's a bit like Black Beauty, where the reader saw things through the eyes of the horse and who was passed on to different owners.’

Five is making a concerted effort to look for more homegrown sitcoms and sketch shows, and only this week announced the winner of its talent hunt for new writers was Hugo Simms, who wrote a script about a night school.
