Two executives quit

The troubled owner of Jongleurs Comedy Club has undergone a dramatic boardroom shake-up after its two most senior executives walked out.

Chief executive Stephen Haupt and finance director Simon Rowe resigned from the board of Regent Inns just days before its annual results are due to be released to the City.

Analysts expect the company to recordn a 19 per cent fall in profits over the past 12 months to £11.7 million.

The top-level resignations come just five months after operations director Michael Thiele quit the group following a profits warning.

Today’s statement from Regent said non-executive chairman Peter Savage will take on executive duties, but only part-time.

It added that the results, due to be published on Tuesday, "will be in line with expectations".

The company, which also owns the Walkabout chain of Australian-themed pubs, has been seen as a possible takeover target.

Shares fell five per cent following the announcement, bur recovered.
