Tribute to Tommy

West End play hails Cooper's genius

A new play about Tommy Cooper is to open in the West End.

Soldier Soldier star Jerome Flynn will don the fez for the lead role in Jus' Like That, which has been directed by Simon Callow.

Victoria Wood's estranged husband Geoffrey Durham, also known as The Great Soprendo, has masterminded the magic tricks, and the show's creator John Fisher directed the TV series Heroes of comedy.

The show follows the success The Play What I Wrote, the hit tribute to Morecambe and Wise performed by comedy double act The Right Size.

It will similarly combine a tribute to Cooper's distinctive act with insights into his insecure, perfectionist character.

The show will visit Malvern, Oxford and Plymouth in March, before opening in London's Garrick Theatre on April 8.
