Chortle's 1,000,000th visitor

Chortle has received its millionth visitor.

The total number of visits to the site hit seven figures for the first time on Sunday afternoon.

The site is continuing to grow at a phenomenal rate. Last week, more than 23,700 people logged on - a 400 per cent increase on the same week in 2001.

Chortle was launched in February 2000 and now boasts thousands of pages of news, reviews, features and listings covering the UK comedy scene.

Editor Steve Bennett said: "It's astonishing how the site has grown so fast, and I'm glad that people seem to like what we do.

"But the site can always be improved, and we'll continue to work to maintain our position the best source of up-to-date information about British comedy."
