Gorman's century

100th namesake met

Dave Gorman has met his 100th namesake.

The milestone came as he performed his show Dave Gorman? - Edinburgh Fringe 2000 at Chortle.co.uk">Are You Dave Gorman? at the Westbeth Theatre in New York.

He told Chortle: "I'm no longer actively seeking them - but it is always a pleasure ,and obviously, I'm very proud to have achieved something as utterly pointless as this."

Dave Gorman is pictured, right, with Dave Gorman, left, who was in the audience at the off-Broadway theatre last week.

The comic's quest to seek out those who share his name started out as a drunken bet with his flatmate, Danny Wallace, but went on to become an Edinburgh show, a TV series and a book. (now being translated for the German market)

His original target was 54 Dave Gormans, one for every card in the deck, but the number grows as namesakes attend the live shows.
