Acorn Antiques returns

Wood pens new sketches

Victoria Wood has written some new Acorn Antiques scripts for a new TV show charting the history of sketch comedy.

The spoof soap was first screened in her BBC show As Seen On TV, which ended in 1987.

But the cast, including Julie Walter, have re-formed for the special episodes due to go out as part of Victoria Wood's Sketch Show Story which starts on October 28.

Wood said: "Acorn Antiques was one of my favourites, so it was good to do it again.

"I don't often write sketches now, but once in a while it is nice to put one together.

"There's a nice thing about being in sketches, they're not very long and there's a lot of laughs in them."

The new shows will feature classic clips from the likes of Morecambe and Wise, The Two Ronnies, Monty Python and The Fast Show.
