© BFI Archive Win two newly restored Peter Sellers films
Only Two Can Play and Carlton-Browne Of The F.O.
Two classic Peter Sellers comedies are being re-released in restored 4K editions to mark what would have been the actor's 100th birthday
Only Two Can Play and Carlton-Browne Of The F.O. will be available on Blu-ray and DVD from January 26, joining a growing collection of Sellers films being reissued by StudioCanal – and we have three copies of each to give away
Only Two Can Play, directed by Sidney Gilliat in 1962, stars Sellers as John Lewis, a frustrated Welsh librarian who tries to escape his dreary family life through a chaotic affair with a councillor's wife. The cast includes Mai Zetterling, Virginia Maskell and Richard Attenborough. It's based on Kingsley Amis's novel That Uncertain Feeling.
The 1959 film Carlton-Browne Of The F.O. takes aim at British colonial attitudes and government bureaucracy. Terry-Thomas plays the bumbling diplomat Carlton Browne, sent to handle relations with a forgotten British colony that suddenly becomes valuable due to mineral deposits. Sellers appears in a supporting role as the island's scheming prime minister.

Both films, described as post-war gems, showcase Sellers's versatility as a performer during a period that helped establish his reputation.
The new editions include bonus material such as archive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. They will also form part of an eight-film box set celebrating Sellers's centenary in September last year. Two other comedies from the same era, Two Way Stretch and Heavens Above, have already been released and will be included in the collection.
Sellers died in 1980 aged 54.
