We frightened a man on acid...

Siblings' Edinburgh Fringe binge, cringe and whinge...

Siblings – sisters Maddy and Marina Bye – are at the Edinburgh Fringe performing their show Dreamweavers at Pleasance Courtyard at 8.20pm. Here they share what they can't get enough of at the festival, their most embarrassing Edinburgh experience and the worst thing about the Fringe. Apart from the cost of accommodation, obviously…

Edinburgh binge

Have said it before, and we'll say it again.. there is nothing.. and we mean nothing.. like the mac & cheese van in George Square at the Edinburgh Fringe. Because, you see, the thing is.. you can get varied toppings, so lets say, for example, you are stressed. Bacon. If you're feeling sad. Keep it plain. If you're feeling lonely, the humble scent of truffle can sometimes really be your best friend. You will see us there, every day.

Yes, the crepe van stays open late so there is trust there, but sometimes the tip of the crepe can be a little much. Once we imagined it could be like what eating a stingray could be like. So we sort of distanced ourselves, at our own behest.

Edinburgh cringe

On the night of the smallest audience we had in the Fringe, including one of our good friends' mums, sat a sweet boy in the crowd who wanted to discuss Starbucks and trees very loudly during our show.

After a while, we decided to engage with the fellow and ask him a few questions… to which he revealed he was deep in the middle of an acid trip and had in fact 'dropped' just before coming into our show. We loved that he made this decision, if anything it was an honour so we decided to tailor the show to the man on acid.

Unfortunately, he was too far gone and we had to kindly escort him out to an uproarious applause because he started to look increasingly frightened. We wish him well but sadly for him we were playing two dancing demons and there wasn't much we could do to accommodate him. Hope he's well and hope to see him again this year.

Edinburgh whinge

Clashing with other people's shows that you really want to see. If only you could see them all! We feel like there should be a day every week at the Fringe where everyone does their shows at the same time on the same stage. As chaotic as it would be, you could see everyone at once and it would solve all the problems.

Really hope the man on acid comes to that one too...
