Arif takes new act crown

Portsmouth-based comedian Sunjai Arif has won the 2017 new act competition at the Bath Comedy Festival.

Former So You Think You’re Funny? winner Benji Waterstones was runner-up.

The other finalists competing at the Widcombe Social Club were Kev O'Connell, Lisanne Fridsma, Tom Redman, Kai Samra, Riordan DJ, Rosie Holt, Danny Clives and Esther Manito.

Previous winners in the competition, run by the Mirth Control clubs, include Joe Lycett, Matt Richardson and Larry Dean.
