Comic reveals it wasn't her decision to leave
Sara Pascoe has revealed that she was dumped from The Great British Sewing Bee against her will.
The comic – now 45 – noted that she was ‘replaced with a younger woman’, fellow comedian Sophie Willan, who’s seven years her junior.
Pascoe hosted the series in 2022 and 2023, before taking a year off to have a second child, when Kiell Smith-Bynoe stood in. She then returned in 2025 for a series before it was announced that Alma's Not Normal creator Willan, below, would be taking over.

Harry Hill asked her about the show on his eponymous YouTube show, saying: ‘Do you still do that?’
‘No. They replaced me with a younger woman,’ she replied. ‘Showbusiness is harsh.’
When Hill asked if she ‘gave it up’, Pascoe replied: ‘No I didn't, absolutely not.’
She added: ‘I'm very lucky for the work I've had, I'm very gracious, I have bought a house, I send love and light to everyone…’
The comic joked that she had a plan to enter the show as a contestant and try to work her way back up to the presenting gig.
The BBC declined to comment.
When Willan was announced as host in September last year, the broadcaster said: ‘Sara has been a brilliant, witty and much-loved presence in the sewing room and both the BBC and the Bee team thank her for three wonderful series.’
Pascoe followed in the footsteps of Claudia Winkleman and Joe Lycett in fronthing the show.
