Date of birth: 16-05-1983

Born in the Cape Town township of Gugulethu in 1983, Loyiso Gola cut his teeth on the South African stand-up circuit before coming to prominence as co-creator and anchor of the late-night satirical news television series Late Nite News on e.tv in 2010, which was nominated for an International Emmy Award for best comedy series.

He is now based part-time in the UK and is a regular on the international festival circuit. He appeared on Live At The Apollo in 2018 and 2021.

In 2021 he also released his first Netflix special – having previously appeared on the platform’s Comedians of the World strand. Unlearning was the first the streaming service ever filmed in Africa.
