Munya Chawawa, Judi Love and Michelle de Swarte join Schooled

Cast announced for new Channel 4 comedy

Munya Chawawa, Judi Love and Michelle De Swarte  have been cast in Channel 4 comedy Schooled.

The forthcoming six-part series was created by Delia-René Donaldson based on her experience working in pastoral care at a London academy.

Leading the cast is Shiloh Coke as Kayleigh Clarke  the newly appointed head of year 10 with no formal teaching background and very little patience for unruly teens.

As filming gets under way, the broadcaster has announced that the comedy will also star Charithra Chandran, Rebecca Humphries, Alex Bhat  and Elliot Barnes-Worrell.

Described as a ‘comedic love letter to teachers  and school support staff’  the series follows Clark as she faces Ofsted inspections. AI-generated scandals and riotous parents’ evenings.

Afolabi Kuti, executive producer at programme-makers Broedmachine, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be working with such a wildly funny and immensely talented cast. The magic they’ve created together is a pure joy to watch. It’s all testament to Delia’s brilliant writing and the extraordinary team effort that went into casting.’

When the series was first announced in May, Donaldson said: ‘I created Schooled to celebrate the joy, chaos, and beauty of being a head of year — with Caribbean essence, a sharp sense of humour, and a lot of heart.  It’s bold, funny, and unapologetically us!  We’ve cooked up something special — and now it’s time to serve it hot!’

The scripts were created by a sizeable writers’ room with the League Of Gentleman’s Jeremy Dyson acting as script editor.

Chawawa will next week  deliver the Alternative MacTaggart lecture at the Edinburgh TV Festival.
