Comic and Libertines frontman explore Margate
Josh Pugh has teamed up with The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty for a new video podcast.
Filmed in Margate, The Pete Doherty Show will involve the pair exploring the Kent resort, meeting locals and interviewing guests including comics Ivo Graham and Jamali Maddix
Doherty said he wanted to work with Pugh because ‘he’s funny’, saying his bandmates would often play his online sketch on the tour bus.
And Pugh told the NME ‘it was really exciting’ when the musician first got in touch about the project.
He said: ‘I was nervous because it’s got to be good if it’s got Pete’s name on it, but Pete’s easy to be with and work with. He’s a very professional guy. Obviously he’s a chaotic genius and we want to keep that bubbling, but he’s really easy to do it with.’
Doherty was rarely out of the tabloids in the mid-Noughties, for dating Kate Moss, his frequent feuds with bandmate Carl Barat, and his drug issues.
Pugh added of the filming: ‘I just wanted to show people what a fun guy he is. I didn’t want to get into anything that didn’t naturally come up. I was just trying to be in his company and I tried to be a fan, but with just enough professionalism to keep it moving.’
The Pete Doherty Show launches on YouTube at 6pm tonight. Here’s a trailer:
