Comedain to renew his boozy advent calendar challenge
Carl Donnelly is to take on his social media advent calendar challenge again this year: drinking his way through 24 mystery miniatures
All the booze – which he must drink every morning in December – is chosen in secret by his wife Hannah.
He says: ‘The thing people most like is how Hannah genuinely makes it difficult by putting in mad drinks she knows I’ll hate.’
Some of the comic’s least favourite tipples from previous years include Black Seal Bermuda Black Rum with 75 per cent alcohol content, a Hungarian liqueur called Unicum that Carl described as ‘an unpleasant surprise that Hannah delighted in supplying various versions of throughout the month’, and Death In The Afternoon - an absinthe cocktail invented by Ernest Hemingway that is, in Donnelly’s words, ‘a real morning-ruiner’.
And drinking in the morning has its consequences: He once had a call from the Amazon safeguarding team after his Alexa smart speaker picked up on what he was talking about over breakfast.
