The daughter of Adrian Edmondson and Jennifer Saunders, Edmonson got into comedy while a student at Manchester University as part of the sketch group Lady Garden. After they split, there of the troupe – Edmondson, Rose Johnson and Camille Ucan - continued as The Birthday Girls. She appeared in Ben Elton's ill-fated comedy The Wright Way as Victoria, and more successfully as Josh Widdicombe's flatmate in the BBC Three series Josh. She plays the lead role of Sarah in the 2018 Disney family movie Patrick.
