Donald Trump vs Nikki Hayley

But only one of them's the real deal on SNL sketch

Nikki Haley finally got to confront Donald Trump last night - courtesy of Saturday Night Live.

While the ex-President has  always dodged debates with his rival for the Republican Party nomination, Trump impersonator James Austin Johnson came to the plate on last night's NBC show.

Former ambassador Haley  made a surprise appearance in the opening sketch, playing a 'concerned South Carolina voter'

And Johnson, as Trump, confused her with Nancy Pelosi – as the real Trump gas done.

In the skit, Haley asked" 'Are you doing OK, Donald? You might need a mental competency test.'

'You know what I did. I took the test and I aced it,' Johnson’s Trump said. 'Perfect score. They said I was 100 per cent mental and I'm competent because I am a man.

'That’s why a woman never should run our economy. Women are terrible with money. In fact, a woman I know recently asked me for $83.3 million.'

The sketch finished with Haley making reference to one of her own gaffes on the campaign trail, when she declined to say 'slavery' when asked what caused the Civil War.

This time, SNL guest host Ayo Edebiri asked her: 'What would you say was the main cause of the Civil War? And do you think it starts with an "S" and ends with a "lavery"?'

Later in the episode, The Bear star Edebiri addressed her own controversy, with a thinly-veiled reference to insults she had previously aimed at Jennifer Lopez.
