Taskmaster to sponsor Chesham FC

Alex Horne is already on the board

comedyTaskmaster is to be the shirt sponsor for Chesham United FC next season.

Alex Horne is on the board at thesemi-professional club, who play in the  Southern League Premier Division South and are currently battling for promotion to the National League.

He revealed the news on Rhys James and Lloyd Griffith’s Fit & Proper podcast today, saying : ‘We've struck a deal. It's not signed off, but it [the shirts’ logo] just says Taskmaster with a little red stamp underneath. It's sort of an Ed Sheeran route of just having an arts project, I mean it's great.’

‘It's one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me. We've got a Taskmaster advertising hoarding at the ground already which is just a picture of me, so it's just more and more of them'.

Sheeran has sponsored Ipswich Town FC for the past three seasons.

The podcast asks its guests to imagine taking over a football club and running it how they’d like.

Horne joined the board of Chesham, his local club, in September. At the time he said: ‘My kids have been involved in the youth set-up for a number of years now and we have attended as many games as work commitments allow.

‘To now be in a position to help raise the profile of the club and support the board in their ambitious plans to make the club sustainable for the future is an exciting prospect and one I look forward to being a part of.’

Two weeks ago he staged a charity football match at their Meadow ground featuring comedians including Mark Watson, Ed Gamble, Aisling Bea, Greg James, Doc Brown, Alex Brooker and Hugh Dennis.
