Glaswegians invited to tell jokes in a giant Irn-Bur receptacle

Comedian Ray Bradshaw is to spend eight hours a day sitting in a giant can of Irn-Bru, listening to people’s jokes.

And if anyone makes him laugh, they will win a free drink, or tickets to Glasgow International Comedy Festival shows.

The pop-up venue – named Canned Laughter –  will be in the city’s Central Station from 11am to 7pm from Monday to Wednesday next week as part of a sponsorship deal between Irn-Bru and the festival

Adrian Troy, marketing director for manufacturers AG Barr said:  ‘Irn-Bru absolutely thrives on Scotland’s cheeky sense of humour so we fully expect some of the jokes offered up at our venue to be top tier.'

The 19-day festival, which boasts 380 shows at 37 venues across the city, kicks off next Wednesday.

Festival director,Krista MacDonald said: ‘So many comedy greats have come out of Glasgow, and the Glasgow International Comedy Festival has often been an important platform for up-and-coming talent.

‘That's why everyone should take a chance on a show this year as you might end up in the audience of the future Kevin Bridges or Billy Connolly.’
