Bill Bailey reveals his outrageous backstage demands

comedyThe Royal Opera House must have seen some divas in its time, but Bill Bailey is not one of them.

The comic performed stand-up there last year, joking that it was a booking error and as he graced its stage Katherine Jenkins was ‘facing a hostile crowd at the Lowestoft Chuckle Lounge’.

Now Bailey has told The Times’s diary column that  while the Covent Garden venue had the grandest dressing room he has been in, he has not become pampered.

The one thing he insists on backstage in his contract rider is not all-white walls or M&Ms with the green ones removed – bit ‘carrot sticks and hummus’.
