R4's News Quiz gets ultra-topical for the election

Recording just hours before broadcast

Radio 4’s News Quiz is to record its election week episode even closer to broadcast so it can keep up with the results.

The show normally records on a Thursday night. But because June 8 is polling day, producers have decided to shift recording to lunchtime on Friday June 9.

It means chairman Miles Jupp and the panel will be cracking jokes just six hours before broadcast – and producers say the movie is ‘lest we be considerably outdated by transmission’.

Tickets for the post-election day edition of The News Quiz are available here.

Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis are also recording two election editions of the Now Show, retitled The Vote Now Show, in the coming month,

And it was recently announced that the next series of Mock The Week will start at 10pm on June 8 – just as polling stations close… and the moment laws regulating broadcasting during election campaigns cease to apply.
