...with her Monkey puppet as co-author!

Nina Conti is writing a memoir – with her puppet Monkey.

The ventriloquist says the book will excavate her ‘intense’ relationship with her parents, actors Tom Conti and Kara Wilson.

And as in her stage act, Monkey will offer a way of probing what she really thinks.

Speaking to The i newspaper, Conti said: ‘You go to therapy to say everything in a safe space. I think of the stage and Monkey as a safe space. You can get stuff out and it takes the sting out of it.’

She previously spoke to Adam Buxton about the ‘autobiography in two voices’ on his podcast, saying  that her simian alter-ego has ‘a far more interesting voice to write in’.

‘When it's getting all girly and diary-ish. I have to go "wait"… and let Monkey's voice take over.’

No publisher has yet been announced for the memoirs.

Conti was speaking to promote her current tour, The Dating Show.
