Marcus Brigstocke stars in new sitcom about ethical living

'It's The Good Life for the new millennium'

Marcus Brigstocke and Kerry Godliman are to star in a new BBC sitcom described as ‘The Good Life for the new millennium’.

The pair will play parents Michael and Maxine  as they try to ‘live a cleaner, greener, serener life’ in the Radio 4  series, entitled The Wilsons Save The World.

It  been written by Marcus Brigstocke alongside Sarah Morgan, whose credits include Horrible Histories and Tracey Ullman and Friends.

In an itnerview earlier this year, Brigstocke said: ‘It’s a modern take on The Good Life I suppose. Not self-sufficiency as such, but like Tom and Barbara Good the family are trying to live an ethical life while everyone else around them isn’t.

‘They make good ethical choices about where they shop. They recycle, upcycle, reuse. I suppose it says that we’re all consumers, but there are questions about why we need to keep consuming. Why do we need to constantly update our phones for example?’

Godliman plays a gardener who fled the city rat race in Jack Dee’s new TV show Bad Move.

The series will be recorded in front of a studio audience in London this autumn. Free tickets for the recordings are available here.
