Audience figures slump for episode 2

Audiences have deserted the last series of Peep Show.

The second episode was seen by 713,000 viewers last night – more than 40 per cent down on the 1.2million who tuned in for the much-trailed season opener last week.

Channel 4 averages about 1.1million viewers for that 10pm slot.

Last night’s episode – which revolved around Mark and Jez attending Superhans’ wedding and saw the return of Isy Suttie as Dobby – may have been hit by the return of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, which was seen by 7.8million on ITV.

And Peep Show was not the only comedy disappointment for Channel 4 in the overnight figures compiled by Barb.

The opening episode of series three of Toast Of London, which followed it, was seen by 430,000 viewers – about half the slot average.

However the performance of both will improve once on-demand viewing is taken into account.
