David Walliams to record BBC sketch show

With Joanna Lumley

David Walliams is recording a new sketch show for BBC One.

Walliams And Friend comes almost a decade after Little Britain ended and will feature Joanna Lumley as his guest, along with Morgana Robinson and Mike Wozniak.

A one-off show is being recorded on Saturday week, following a try-out gig in London's Hen And Chickens theatre earlier this month.

Earlier this summer Walliams revealed he wanted to make the show instead of continuing with Big School, the sitcom which co-starred Catherine Tate. He said: 'The BBC asked for a third series, but I asked to do a new sketch show instead, and they agreed.'

Walliams – who today ended his marriage to Lara Stone with a decree nisi issued in London's Central Family Court – has co-written the sketch show with The Dawson Brothers, who also worked with him on Big School.

The pilot show will be recorded on September 19 at The ITV London Studios near Waterloo. Click here for details of how to apply for free audience tickets.
