Russell Brand returns to XFM

Radio shows start this weekend

Russell Brand is to host a new show on XFM, two years after his last appearance on the station.

The new show will run for an hour on Sundays from 9pm and be compiled from his newly revived twice-weekly podcasts on Audioboom which also feature his regular radio presenting team of Matt Morgan and poet Mr Gee.

The station’s managing editor, Chris Baughen said: ‘Having Russell return to XFM is great news and something we’ve wanted to do for a very long time. For me, radio is where he does his best work and along with many XFM and Russell Brand fans, I can’t wait to hear what he’s got in store.’

Brand launched his radio career on XFM in early 2002 with Morgan, before moving on to 6 Music and Radio 2 – where he and Jonathan Ross made their infamous phone calls to Andrew Sachs.

Brand last featured on XFM for a one-off charity broadcast in March 2013, when he was joined by Noel Gallagher and Noel Fielding.

The new show starts this Sunday; and XFM is on 104.9 FM in London,97.7 FM in Manchester, on 96.3 FM in Paisley and otherwise online and on digital radio.
