Rowan makes a return to live comedy

On Prince's Trust fundraiser

Rowan Atkinson is to make a rare live comedy appearance at this year’s Prince's Trust comedy gala.

The Blackadder star has been added to the bill of the star-studded Royal Albert Gall gala – which will also feature a sketch from Ben Elton. It is not yet clear if Elton will be writing for Atkinson, as he has previously done.

Atkinson's appearance comes as his prepares to make his first appearance in a West End play for almost 25 years, starring in Quartermaine’s Terms from January.

Also added to the bill of the We Are Most Amused charity event today are Jimmy Carr, Miranda Hart and musical trio The Midnight Beast.

The line-up on November 28 also includes Dame Edna Everage, who has announced her retirement from live comedy.

Also on the bill are Stephen K Amos, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Omid Djalili, Milton Jones, Patrick Kielty, Helen Lederer and Justin Lee Collins.

Hart called the night ‘a fantastic lineup for a very important cause,’ adding: ‘The Prince's Trust is vital at a time when so many young people are disillusioned and unemployed.’

Tickets are priced from £20 to £125 and are available here.
