Picked up his last live vid - 30p from Oxfam! - and I have to say it made me laugh as hard as any other show I've seen recently. Yeah he's sold out, yeah he's no longer the Motormouth voice of a disaffected generation, yeah he's got his tongue firmly up the establishment. But we shouldn't forget Mr Elton was once a damn fine comic, second only to Alexei Sayle, and maybe if he spent more time on the road and less in the mainstream he'd recover his stand-up talents. Michael Monkhouse, August 2010 |

What an idiot, thank god he's gone abroad i hope for good. I would like to have the Royalty any day and hopes he falls off the planet down under. l.depares, November 2009 |

Saw him last week. Time for a new career. Maybe he could write real estate ads for the newspapers? Barjo, November 2009 |

Just gets worse and worse, sorry. It started when he did 'The Man from Auntie' and turned into a pussy cat. Now there are so many great figures on the circuit isn't it time to retire mate? Michael Monkhouse, September 2007 |

I saw him recently at the Cambridge Corn Exchange and I did not laugh once. Boring, pointless and not in the slightest bit funny anymore. He tries to pretend he's still political and edgy but he's just making jokes about fridges and picking the kids up from school. Nik, July 2006 |

We saw Ben Elton at the beginning of his NZ & Australia 2006 tour and he was fantastic! Just as good as he's always been. Plenty of chuckles throughout and some screamingly funny parts too. Welcome back Ben, please stay on the stand-up circuit for ever Alison, July 2006 |

Saw him last night in Bradford - a mixed night. His stage presence, delivery, and passion are all still top-notch - the man's a great comic performer. Plus, he's as manic, blissfully foul-mouthed and shiny-suited as you'd never dare hope. But the material? Oh dear ... a good half of it was stuff we've all seen done either a decade ago, or dozens of times since - and often better. The trials of loading a dishwasher ... the tendency to grow hair in odd places when one gets old ... highlighting the irony in the term "friendly fire" ... how annoying email spam is ... "what's the deal with those "sorry to keep you waiting" messages at call centres?" ... For fuck's sake, Ben, is that the best you could do after eight years chewing the end of your pen? It was lazy and mainstream, as though he'd had Jasper Carrott writing his material for him. Which was a real shame; only the choice of material let him down. Carlos The Jackall, February 2006 |

Absolutely fantastic. A true icon. FBB, January 2006 |
