Radio 4 presenters attempt stand-up

Gig for Comic Releief

Four BBC presenters - including Dragon's Den host Evan Davis – are to try stand-up for the first time in aid of Comic Relief.

The economics editor turned Today host will join fellow Radio 4 stars Libby Purves, Peter White and Laurie Taylor.

The quartet will be mentored by Paul Merton, Milton Jones, Josie Long and Shappi Khorsandi, before taking to the stage of the Comedy Cafe in East London on February 24.

Once their attempts have aired, Radio 4 listeners will be able to vote for their favourite performance.

This charity attempt is the latest in a spate of celebrities trying stand-up. Another Radio 4 presenter, Jeni Murray, will join former Blue Peter star Janet Ellis and PR guru Lynne Franks at a charity gig on International Women's Day on March 8.

And former Sun editor Kelvin McKenzie recently tried his hand at stand-up for a forthcoming documentary for new digital channel Blighty.
