Tittybangbang up for a Golden Rose

Brits dominate international awards

Tittybangbang has been hailed as one of the best comedies in the world.

The BBC Three sketch show, co-written by Bob Mortimer and starring Lucy Montgomery, has been nominated for the Golden Rose awards for international TV.

It has made the shortlist for best comedy, a category is dominated by Britain, which is credited with eight of the 11 shows in the category.

The others include Green Wing, Man Stroke Woman, The Vicar of Dibley, The Worst Christmas Of My Life and That Mitchell & Webb Look,

The UK nominations are completed by the Five film about twentysomething university friends Perfect Day: The Millennium and – bizarrely – the American show 30 Rock, which has been credited to Britain.

To add to the confusion, there is a separate sitcom category – in which The Vicar of Dibley is not included.

Among the nominees here were the five UK shows Not Going Out, My Family, The Royle Family, The Thick Of It and BBC Scotland’s Legit.

Finally, the Secret Policeman's Ball has been nominated for the best show category.

This year's Rose d'Or Festival will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, from May 5-9. Ben Elton will host the award ceremony.
