Comic to host history show Oh What A Time… with Tom Craine and Chris Scull

Elis James is to co-host a new comedy history podcast,  Oh What A Time….

The comic and Radio 5 Live presenter will be presenting the show with fellow comic Tom Craine and Chris Scull, from the football nostalgia podcast Quickly Kevin, Will He Score?

The series will tackle a different topic each week, such as  ‘childhood’, ’a life at sea’, ‘marriage’ or ‘holidays’ to find the weirdest and worst stories that history has to offer, in an effort to answer the question, ‘Was the past as awful as it sounds?’

James  said: ‘I laugh so much recording these episodes with Tom and Chris, but more importantly it justifies the enormous size of my student loan, as for once I’m doing something that actually relates to the history degree I got 21 years ago.’

The comedian already hosts his  long-running podcast for BBC Radio 5 Live with fellow comic John Robins, as well as its companion mental health podcast How Do You Cope?, as well as the Socially Distant Sports Bar podcast with Mike Bubbins and Steff Garrero.

Craine added: ‘With two young children who refuse to sleep, and a cost of living crisis doubling the cost of a sandwich, modern life can be incredibly stressful… so it’s great to do a show That Reminds Me that things could be much worse!’

Oh What A Time… will launch on Mondays from July 17, with the first series comprising 12 episodes.
