Dirty Nans

Note: This review is from 2000

Review by Steve Bennett

If Les Dawson had starred in Bottom, the result would be the Dirty Nans.

This trio of depraved, randy pensioners produce an hour of comedy that mixes the sick with the surreal with varying degrees of success.

It's a fine line they tread, trying to keep their obviously over-the-top caricatures believable, and when they do have one foot in reality this raucous female trio are hilarious.

Some of their more off-the-wall exploits, however, noticeably fail to amuse, and the script too often relies on hammy cartoon ultraviolence to get out of a hole.

However, there are more hits than misses and enough promising material here to think this is an act worth watching in the future.

And if nothing else, the uproarious sight of these pervy pensioners dancing over-enthusiastically to The Prodigy is an image that will stay with you forever.
