Happy 100th birthday, Peter Sellers!
Blu-Ray releases and BFI season to mark comic's anniversary
Two classic Peter Sellers comedies are to be released on Blu-Ray to mark what would have been his 100th birthday on September, 8.
Studiocanal are to release the 1960 crime caper Two Way Stretch – co-starring Bernard Cribbins and Lionel Jeffries – and 1963’s Heaven’s Above!, a social satire about an honest priest whose kindness disrupts an upmarket English village.
Both films will be available on Blu-ray from August 4.
It comes as the BFI Southbank in London stages a month-long season of Sellers films in August. As well as the two aforementioned comedies, the programme also includes The Wrong Arm Of The Law, Dr Stranglove and two Pink Panther movies, among others
The programme also includes an event discussing his work and a screening of ‘oddities and rarities’, including a filmed Goon Show.
A Peter Sellers box set will be released in November, although details have not yet been disclosed.
