Hannah Gadsby returns to the Edinburgh Fringe

For the first time since Nanette

Hannah Gadsby is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time since 2017.

That year, the comic took the Edinburgh Comedy Award with their groundbreaking stand-up show Nanette, which went on to become an Emmy-winning Netflix special.

Now they are back with their new show Woof!, playing at the Underbelly’s 1,000-seat McEwan Hall, the biggest venue at the Fringe. The run is just eight days, from August 18 to 25 and tickets are available here.

The news comes just days after it was announced that Gadbsy would also be performing at the London Palladium on November 4 and 5.

The comic said: ‘Since Nanette, my life has become demonstrably better whilst the world has become demonically worse I don’t think it’s my fault, but I do think we should talk about it.’

Woof! has been touring Australia and you can read our review from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival here.

Gadsby’s second Netflix special, Douglas, launched in 2020, and their third, Something Special landed in May last year. Earlier this year they also introduced the Gender Agenda special, also on Netflix, featuring queer and trans comedians.

Also playing McEwan hall this August are Rob Madge, returning with My Son’s a Queer (But What Can You Do), following a successful run in the Udderbelly in 2022 and a subsequent West-End season, and the previously announced sketch trio  Foil Arms and Hog.

Gadsby was joint winner of the 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Award with John Robins.
