LIVERPOOL: Hot Water comedy club, now ensconced in its new £7million home in Blackstock Market, hosts a fundraiser for Britain's Got Talent comedian (and Baptist minister) Allan Finnegan, who has a rare form of cancer. Those taking part include Paul Smith, Adam Rowe, Troy Hawke and Rachel Fairburn.

LONDON: Sara Pascoe headlines No Direction Home, a bil that otherwise showcases refugees who are learning stand-up, at the Soho Theatre. Laura Smyth hosts.

Tuesday April 16

LONDON: Jonathan Pie, the ever-angry newsman alter-ego of Tom Walker begins a near two-week West End run of his Heroes & Villains show at the Duke Of York's Theatre. Read our review of an earlier tour date here. Tickets.

LONDON: Jason Byrne begins a week-long run of The Paddy Lama: Shed Talks at the Museum Of Comedy. A one-man tragi-comic play, it recalls his late father, keeping him alive in stories reflecting on 80 years of Dublin wit – and 80 years of Dublin bull.

Thursday April 18

GLASGOW: The Big Fab Comedy Show, put together by Edinburgh's Gilded Balloon, comes to St Luke's with a line-up boasting Scottish comedy godfather Fred McAulay, manic newcomer Dan Tiernan, and internet video queen Eleanor Morton, plus Chris Forbes and Krystal Evans.

LONDON: Another impressive Knock2Bag bill features Lou Sanders, Jayde Adams, Joseph Morpurgo, Kemah Bob, Morgan Rees and more at Hackney's Moth Club.

Friday April 19

LONDON: Supercilious French character Marcel Lucont brings another Cabaret Fantastique night to Brasserie Zedel featuring musical comedy queens Flo and Joan, blunt-talking Myra Dubois and mentalist Matt Daniel-Baker,

BRISTOL Rachel Parris embarks on her biggest live tour yet, with her new show Poise, which she describes as 'a love letter to musical comedy'.
