Hills becomes a Dad

Beatrice Pearl is 'perfect'

Australian comedian Adam Hills has become a father for the first time.

His wife, the cabaret singer and operatic soprano Ali McGregor, has given birth to a 7lb 8oz baby daughter, Beatrice Pearl, in a Melbourne hospital.

The stand-up, who splits his time between the UK and Australia, where he hosts the pop quiz Spicks and Specks, Tweeted: ‘When I woke up yesterday I wasn't a dad. Today I am. Life is good. Wife is better. Baby is the best.’

Hills, who joked he would call his daughter Logie after Australia’s top TV awards if he won one also said McGregor was in good health.

While she wrote on Twitter: ‘Ali McGregor is a mum to the most perfect little girl in the world. Thank-you for all your well wishes. It might be a while between posts as I am far too busy looking and kissing this gorgeous bundle of perfection!’

The pair, who married in Australia over Christmas, will both be performing at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, with McGregor making her solo debut with the show Jazz Cigarette.
