The funniest man in Britain?

Justin Lee Collins scoops Lafta awards

Justin Lee Collins is the funniest man in Britain, according to the Lafta comedy awards.

He won two prizes at today’s ceremony, both for funniest man and for funniest double act award with Friday Night Project co-host Alan Carr.

In a recent interview, Collins said: 'I dislike being described as a comedian because I feel like a charlatan. I started out as a stand-up comic and that got me into TV, but I was never very good.'

Michelle Gomez, from Channel 4’s Green Wing, was named funniest woman in the awards, as voted by readers of Loaded magazine.

The Mighty Boosh was named funniest TV programme, and Hot Fuzz best film

As previously announced Vic Reeves was named Loaded Legend, which he called ‘the most fantastic thing ever’.

Other winners included David Gest, who picked up the prize for funniest reality TV person, and Radio One DJ Scott Mills won the funniest radio show.
