Pryor sues record company

Richard Pryor is suing a record company, claiming that 11 of his recordings were released without permission.

He filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday against Universal Music Group for allegedly marketing and selling the concerts without having the licence to do so.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, and says that it took ‘years’ for Pryor to realise the titles, including Are You Serious? and Wizard Of Comedy, were being improperly sold.

Trade newspaper The Hollywood Reporter says UMG has not replied to the claims, as the company was not yet aware of the details of the case.
