He will, he will rock you

Peter Kay hijacks Queen gig

Peter Kay hijacked a comeback gig from rockers Queen last night to lead a singalong of chart-topper Is This the Way To Amarillo?

The comic took to the stage of Manchester’s MEN Arena at the end of the sold-out gig with his Phoenix Nights co-star Patrick McGuinness.

He ran into the crowd and encouraged them to sing the Seventies Tony Christie classic, which he has been promoting through a cheesy pop video in aid of Comic Relief.

As he left the stage, he jokingly taunted the band – which has Paul Rodgers replacing Freddie Mercury as lead singer, saying: "Two more weeks.  wo more weeks and we will have beaten Bohemian Rhapsody's record. That will be nine weeks at number one!”

It is not the first time the Bolton comics has interrupted a rock concert at the venue where he once worked as an usher. He also made a surprise appearance at t Clapton's concert last year- with a guitar slung around his neck.
