Fame or bust

Spikey becomes a museum piece

A bronze bust of Phoenix Nights star Dave Spikey has gone on display in the Museum of Lancashire.

The cast, which was made after the comic was named Chorley's Cultural Personality, has been added to the Preston museum's Grin Up North comedy exhibition .

Spikey has also lent mementoes of his career, including the world's largest Polaroid photo, a pop-up Smithills Brewery menu, and a flyer for one of Peter Kay alter-ego Keith Lard's fire safety classes.

Dave said: "I'm honoured and thrilled to be part of Grin Up North. Being included in such a major exhibition alongside all the great names is fantastic.

"I'm on tour at the moment and it's amazing what an influence Phoenix Nights has had. You even get ten-yea- old kids coming along who've been watching it.

"My mum will be glad I'm in Grin Up North as she went a while ago and was
really disappointed I wasn't featured!"

The Grin Up North exhibition runs until April.
