Bill Bailey plays the bagpipes on Have I Got News For You

Preview of tonight's show

Bill Bailey cracks out the bagpipes on Have I Got News For You tonight.

The comic brought out the instrument during last night’s taping after referring to a recent story in which King Charles had advocated for the health benefits of playing the bagpipes.

Bailey added: ‘The Scotsman advised that ‘beginners may wish to find a large field to play in’ but I prefer a panel show to practise on!" as he leant under the desk to bring up his own bagpipes.

As he started playing, Paul Merton leapt out of his seat to start a Scottish jig around the studio floor, before Ian Hislop joined them

As he took his place back in the host’s chair, an out-of-breath Bailey fell to the floor, joking: ‘Yeah, it’s really good for your health….’

The regulars were joined by journalist Helen Lewis and comedian Daliso Chaponda; the Britain’s Got Talent finalist making his debut appearance on the show.

Have I Got News For You continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm tonight, Friday 20th October, with guest host Bill Bailey joined by panellists Helen Lewis and Daliso Chaponda.
