Watch her set at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

Jenny Eclair took to the stage at the Melbourne comedy festival in only her mismatched bra and pants.

And the gig – the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow – was televised.

‘Hello and welcome to my midlife crisis,’ the comic told the audience of 2,000 in the Regent Theatre.

After dancing her way on to the stage, the comedian pointed out that at 57 she was a year younger than Madonna – but there were several notable differences, not least the fact that Eclair likes crisps and doesn’t sleep with young backing dancers.
