Their harmonies are great, they are more than competent musically and they look good together; geeky Scod, tall, pretty Gatesy and aesthetically challenged Yon, who probably has the best voice and a laudable less-is-more approach to comedy gurning.

Using a variety of musical styles, their songs cover yearning for the girl in the comic shop, getting the wrong film back, hippy environmentalists, a piece of clever dickery about prefixes, Japan and a homophobic (and very Aussie) Christmas tree, among other things. The comic ideas within the songs carry the humour, because lyrically there’s nothing particularly clever happening.

The on-stage banter is so smooth it feels slightly over-rehearsed, if I’m being picky. Slapping a short bald guy on his head has been around since silent movies were invented and before, inappropriate departure from script is standard these days, but this is joyful, crowd-pleasing stuff, good pop comedy.
