Show Rating:Sean Cullen's Erotic Laser Swordfight rated 4/5

No lasers, no swordfighting and no eroticism. But then Sean Cullen's Funny Improvising And Song Parodies Show doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it?

This show sees the former Juice Pig on top form, mixing surreal stand-up and absurd musical numbers in a most entertaining hour.

Driving the show is Cullen's ability to weave whimsical images from half-ideas gleaned from the audience - though it has to be said that most of the laughs come when he stops himself short, realising the absurd streams of consciousness he creates really aren't going anywhere.

The songs, too, are classy. Many, like Rubbing The Elderly, are reminiscent of the Barenaked Ladies (it must be a Canadian thing), but the finest must be the parody of the faux passion of Guns N Roses-style rock bands - the powerful tribute to the love of a man for his timber that is It's A Log.

Combined with Cullen's energetic 'fat and friendly' persona, it all goes to create a genuine feelgood atmosphere, and one the sold-out theatre lapped up.

It's a genuinely happy show, guaranteed to bring cheer to your lives in an undemanding, unthreatening way.
