Del Boy would be proud...

comedyAn empty bottle of Peckham spring water from Only Fools & Horses has sold for £2,600.

The prop was used in the 1992 Christmas special, entitled Mother Nature’s Son, in which Del Boy sold tap water as mineral water 'from an ancient and natural source’

It was originally kept by a camera operator working in the studio and nearly ended up in a recycling bin as the owner originally thought it to be of no value.

But it fetched the four-figure sum when Auctioneum of Bristol put it under the hammer.

The auction house's spokesman Andrew Stowe said a couple of hundred bottles were made for filming, and afterwards any spares were given away to the cast or crew as souvenirs.

But he said he believed fewer than 20 still survived.

At the same sale, a scruffy Compo suit Bill Owen wore on the set of Last Of The Summer Wine fetched £6,000.

The jackets were originally purchased from a Savile Row tailor then were painstakingly 'weathered' by the production team to look distressed.

And a TV Times award Benny Hill won in 1971 for being the  'Funniest Man On TV’ went for £650.
