Jack Whitehall: Nando's revoked my Black Card

Comedian abused his privilege.

comedyJack Whitehall says he was the first person to ever have a Nando's Black Card revoked because he abused his privilege.

The coveted concession – officially known as the High Five Card -  entitles the holder to free food and drink for them and up to four pals for a year.

But the 34-year-old comic said he over used it 'every day for six months’ while a student in Manchester – prompting the fast food chain to withdraw it as it 'wasn't within the spirit of the offer.’

Whitehall was just starting to get TV gigs at the time, and was given the card because he’d mentioned Nando’s in his stand-up material.

Speaking to Matt White on the Manchester's Finest YouTube channel, Whitehall said:  'You could get four complimentary meals on it, so I'd take all my mates... daily.  I went and got four whole chickens and brought like 15 of my mates and then gorged on this free Nando’s

‘And then I became the first person that they took the Nando's black card back off because I'd abused it.

He added that the prestigious card was taken away from him because the way he used it 'wasn't within the spirit of the offer.'

The wording on the High Five Card says: 'As a valued friend of Nando's, the person named on this card is entitled to one starter, one combo meal, one dessert and one soft drink - along with up to four friends. Sorry no free alcoholic drinks’.

Getting hold of one is notoriously difficult, with other high-profile holders including Ed Sheeran.

The Nando's website states: 'We can tell you for certain is that no-one who's requested a card, no matter how politely, has ever received one. Asking for one is simply the biggest taboo - a definite no no.'
