You can bet on Stewart Lee becoming a BGT judge

...but at the same odds that Liz Truss will take the job

comedyBookmakers William Hill are offering odds on Stewart Lee replacing  David Walliams on the Britain's Got Talent judging panel.

The move seems beyond improbable, given that in a 2015 Observer article, Lee called the talent show’s judges ‘human filth’ as they treated absurd comedy acts as if they were  deluded.

Nonetheless, gamblers can get 100-1 odds on the comic taking over from Walliams, who is expected to quit after offensive off-air comments he made about contestants came to light.

Lee’s long-shot odds are exactly the same as those for former PM Liz Truss taking her place alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

William Hill spokesman Lee Phelps said: ‘Obviously Stewart Lee and Liz Truss are long shots for a reason, but there is no doubt both would bring a spike in viewers.’

Former Strictly judge Oti Mabuse is the most likely to take over, according to the bookies, with her odds priced at evens.
