Holly Ludlow wins West End New Act of the Year,

Prateek Kohli second and Tasmin Sarkany third

Holly Ludlow has been named West End New Act of the Year, with Prateek Kohli second and Tasmin Sarkany third.

More than 300 people entered the content, which is now in its third year, with the final staged in London last night.

Compere Steve McLean said: 'I'm glad I wasn't judging, the standard of the acts on the night was so high that almost any of them could have had a podium finish'

The first two places were determined by the judges – Matt Arnold of Dulwich Hamlet Comedy club, Ali Warwood of Commoner's Comedy and Clara Heimerdinger of Nice and Spiky – with third place down to an audience vote.

Other finalists were: Orlando Gibbs, Lucy Pook, Simon Hall, Jen Zheng, Laura Quinn Goh, Hamish Lloyd Barnes, Lizzie Simpson, Merry Martyn, Thea Carroll, M.J, Hunter, Stacey Edwards, Sam Adamson and Martha Burns

Aimed at new comedians who are over 35, the West End New act of the Year will return in September, with applications opening in July.
