Georgie Donnelly gets a new role with The O2's owners

Live entertainment giant AEG Presents has appointed Georgie Donnelly as its first head of comedy.

The move is designed to help the company, which also owns The O2 and Eventim Apollo in London, expand the live comedy aspect of its traditionally music-based business.

One of her first major jobs will be overseeing the Just For Laugh festival which is taking over The O2 from March 2 to 5 next year.

Donnelly joins from promotions company Moment House where she was head of comedy and podcasts. Before this she was an Agent at United Talent Agency and earlier head of Comedy at Kilimanjaro Live.

She said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to join the team at AEG Presents who are synonymous with live music and entertainment. I am so excited to be expanding the live comedy aspect of the business and look forward to bringing some of the biggest stars and events in global comedy to the UK.’

Steve Homer, the company’s chief executive, said: ‘Georgie is immersed in the comedy world and has incredible experience booking and running tours and shows across multiple comedic genres.

‘It’s an area AEG Presents is increasingly taking up residence and with Just for Laughs, as well as the arrival of Georgie to this newly created role, our plan is to really accelerate our comedic footprint.’

AEG Presents Ltd had a £139million-a-year turnover before Covid, according to the latest accounts filed at Companies House.
