Sindhu takes a hike

...for a new BBC One programme

Sindhu Vee is to host a BBC One programme about river walks.

The one-off documentary looks at how waterways have ‘shaped the landscape, history and culture’ of 11 parts of the UK.

Each region of England will get its own version, with Vee presenting the East Midlands one.

She said: ‘On stage I introduce myself as Sindhu The Hindu but after this I could be Sindhu The Hindu Hiker.’

Otheer presenters include Rachel and Stanley Johnson, Kirsten O’Brien and Stuart Maconie.

Stuart Thomas, head of programmes for BBC England, said: ‘I hope we inspire viewers to get out and about in the great outdoors and follow in the footsteps of our presenters along these spectacular walking routes."

River Walks airs on BBC One on Monday December 10 at 7.30pm. The entire series will be made available nationwide on BBC iPlayer.
